What to do if there is a smell of gas in a gas emergency

• Get fresh air immediately. Open all doors and windows to ventilate the room
• Switch off the gas appliances and do not use it again until it has been checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer
• Turn off the gas supply at the mains emergency control valve near the meter.
• Call the National Gas Emergency number : 0800 111 999
• Do not smoke
• Do not operate electrical light switches or power switches
• Ensure clear access to the premises is available.
• If you are feeling ill visit your GP or the hospital immediately and tell them that your symptoms may be related to carbon monoxide poisoning.
• Contact a Gas Safe registered engineer such as our company to check and fix the appliance.
• Gas supply must not be used until remedial action has been taken to correct the defect and the installation has been re-commissioned by a competent engineer such as a gas safe registered engineer from our company – unic uk.
